I think you should buy him the kit and take a photo of him in it. Then when he is 18 you should show the photo to his girlfriend.
She will then dump him in a rage as Liverpool, having just won their 25th league title, was clearly the correct choice and it will cast doubt over his ability to think straight!!!
Or if you cant wait that long then just remove his finger nails
