Well it seems that all the big clubs are going transfer mad!!
Even Arsenal have joined in buying an unknown Ivorian for £27million
Lets see who will be the best buy this season - no doubt that it was Van der Vaart last season (closely followed by Luis Suarez)
And who wil lbe the worst buy? Last season Fernando Torres (closely followed by joe Cole!)
I think Wenger will be transferred out very soon. I actually think Stewart Dowing will prove to be a shrewd buy. I havent been a big fan in the past but something tells me....
Have Villa just bought Shay Given? If so, that'll be a good buy too.
May well be a shrewd buy for Villa, but replacing a 40 something year old with a 35 year old, who has rarely played in a year could be a bit of a risk, even more so when they've got rid of so many players and have only brought two in.
I just hope this transfer window sees the end of Tevez, he's very annoying, oh and the Fabregas issue, just let him goto Barcelona already 🙄
As for value for money, so far, if last season is anything to go by, Demba Ba to Newcastle on a free could turn out invaluable, he scored a few in a poor West Ham team afterall.
Ok so we're in August - a week and a day away from the start of the new season.
My team have so far bought a ivorian with a brazillian name and a back up right back from Charlton.
We are still no nearer knowing if our Captain (and star player) is gonna leave for his home town club or if another midfielder in the final year of his contract will be playing for the blue mancs or running down his contract for a season to go on a freebie next summer.
In May we were promised a busy transfer window by our manager and general manager . So far it safe to say the fans were expecting something slightly different to what has happened.
Happy dayzzzzzz
Gooner
Add to that I don't think you'd get the quoted £40m asking price for Fabregas, and in all honesty you're better off selling Nasri for £20m than letting him go for free at the end of the season. It seems a typical Arsenal transfer window so far, promises a lot, but provides potential with a captain that doesn't want to be there 😆
Of course things could be worse, you could be supporting a non league club 😀
Thanks Baz - you're cheering me up no end.
I agree - City offered £22 mill - we should have jumped at the cash.
Got a feeling that we won't get £40 mill for Cesc as well but should settle for £30 -35 mill. Its a tough one cos even though we don't want to sell him - he only wants to go to one club when he leaves so its not like he would be involved in a bidding war for his services. Got a bit sick of the whole barca buying cesc press thing for the past 3 summers - that club has no real class & seems to be a law unto themselves when it comes to tapping up players through the press, international team & direct contact.
We still need a centre back, striker & decent defensive midfielder. Would also have loved us to sign an experienced GK to take the number 1 spot with cheesey backing him up as number 2.
and we still have offloaded Bendtner, Almunia, Diaby, Eboue, Denilson (though the loan deal was better than nothing), Arsharvin and Rosicky.
I thought this summer would define Wengers relationship with the fans and at the moment things are not looking good. Arsenal are going to need to have the best start to the season of their lives or the fans are going to be calling for his head by Christmas, at the very latest.
Barcelona & Real Madrid are the biggest culprits going for tapping players up through various media outlets, but they get away with it because of who they are, which is really annoying.
I'm surprised Arsenal haven't gone and signed a centre back yet, thought they would have at least bid on Samba or Cahill, they're cheaper alternatives to Jagielka, who I can't see Everton selling, even with their financial state.
Also whoever pays more than £5m for Bendtner are paying about £4m too much 😆
I'd love to see the day when Newport can pay silly money for players!
I think that Arsene has done his time now and if he fails to buy decent players this window he will struggle to win over the fans as many were calling for his resignation laat season.
Remember his "second place is a good season" speech!!!
I think Arsenal play some great football and hope they compete (not too much as Liverpool need a champions league place!) but they desperately need to buy.
There are several players who would go and they are being linked to the most obscure!
As for Fabregas just go we are all bored with the saga
Last day of the transfer window and it looks like it has been a busy day
What has been the best deal?
Could be Bellamy to Liverpool
or Arteta to Arsenal
QPR and Stoke have been very busy
Most Best Deal: has to go to Arsenal for off loading Nasri with only 1 year left for 25Million.
Most Important Deal(s): gotta be Arsenal's - Santos, Mertesacker, Benayoun and Arteta, all pretty last minute. My money's on Benayoun to shine and pull them back into the running. That is if they can gel quickly.
Most Confusing Deal: has to be Everton. Already struggling with a small squad and then they sell a load, without replacing them.
Most Annoying Deal: Aguero to Man C. Don't much care for them and he looks like a really, really good player.
Most Batting Above Average Deal: QPR or Stoke ...can't quite make my mind up, but I think they have both been quite shrewd.
Most Likely to Succeed Deal: Liverpool or Man U. Both have bolstered already good squads and I think they'll both go up a notch this year. Liverpool for a CL place ...easy peasy!
Everton had/has no money to spend for whatever reason, so they had to rely on loan deals. Then Arteta said he wanted to leave, and £10m is a lot of money for a club struggling for cash, and Moyes isn't one to keep an unhappy player, plus he got what £3-4m for Beckford, that was a brilliant price for that donkey 😆
Deal of the window, well there's a few contenders, Young & Jones to Man Utd are looking like cheap deals despite them both being £16m, and i'm still convinced Debma Ba on a free for Newcastle will turn into a [censored] of a deal, but then again i'm not sure what kind of wage he's on, same for Barton at QPR.
I think that Adebayour to Spurs could be a great move as could Crouch to Stoke
I was surprised that Harry didnt get his "dodgy" fax machine out and get another Van der Vaart
