Hi all
Just applied for my tickets to the Olympics next year - hoping to see Hockey and Fencing, sports that the boys both participate in.
Is anyone else going?
If so what are you applying for?
Part of me knows it will be a lot cheaper and a much better view from my sofa while the other part of me wants to go just so i can say I've been to an Olympics. I may wait and see if there are some events that hardly anyone goes to and then get some cheap tickets. Is golf an olympic sport this time??
No - golf is not an olympic sport
Apparently some people have bid for loads of tickets without realising that the money will be taken next month!
The whole thing seems a little stupid in the way they've done it - surely it would have been more sensible to have a booking system which allows you to say which ones you want in order of preference, with a maximum spend, so you get allocated as many tickets as possible in the order your want, but don't buy more than you need.
I agree - I thought it would be lke a normal ballot.
You put your name in the hat and at the end of the day if you don't want the tickets then you don't pay for them!
It has certainly restricted my options especially as I have to pay before even being allocated the tickets!
I went for fencing and hockey - and didnt get either. Very disappointed with the whole ticketing fiasco. Apparently I will have priority in the next round when obviously only higher priced tickets will be left.
These tickets would have cost £140 not to mention the travel costs and food.
I am going to go but may settle for the paralympics which will offer a more reasonable alternative.
Cannot believe that over half the ticket applications were unsuccessful yet one person was allowed £11k worth of tickets!!
Surely the ballot would have been better if you applied for an event and if successful then you are told which day and time.
I do hope that we are not priced out of this
To make matters worse there are other days that the hockey is available - surely if my tickets were sold out then I should be offered alternative dates.
It is turning into a farce!!
We missed out for Olympic tickets - couldnt be bothered to get up at 6am to try for scond lot - just as well as many of those were sold out in 15 minutes and apparently they didnt have many tickets where 4 people could sit together!
Decided to go to the 2011 London Cup - an international mens hockey tournament - got tickets to the 3rd place play off and the final for me an my youngest - cost £35!!
The following day taking my eldest to the European Fencing Championships in Sheffield which cost us £16
They will probably enjoy these just as much! And we will apply for the Paralympics just to go to the Olympic venues.
