Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a fighting style that uses any combination of striking eg boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate etc, Wrestling for takedowns and takedown defense and Ju Jitsu, Brazillian Ju Jitsu for submissions eg chokes, arm locks, leg locks. In MMA the fight is usually taken place in a cage for fighter safety to stop them falling out of the fight arena like a boxing ring (although fights in boxing rings are common place). The fighters can fight standing or on the ground and win by KO, Ground and Pound (where you can strike your opponent while on top of them), Submission (making your opponent tap out) or by decision.

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is Thailand's equivalent of Kickboxing. In Thai Boxing you can Kick your opponent from the legs up to the head, punch, elbow and knee.

K1 is oriental style Kickboxing and can kick your opponent from the legs up to the head, punch and knee.

I've got bored of MMA mainly due to the amount of show that are on and the UFC putting a show on pretty much every week. I've gone back to my roots and watch a lot of K1. Glory is a good show

Well done on the win fella. I've just started BJJ and had 4 lessons and I'm being thrown around like a rag doll [censored]. It goes to show that everything I thought I knew doesn't mean a thing against guys of proper standing. The upside is I've gone home every night with a massive grin on my face lol

Thank you mate 🙂 lol yea i can imagine, every category has different technique and style to how they train/fight, takes getting use to but you get there, was the same when i first started going muay thai, i remember one sparring session i got kicked in the head followed by a punch in the nose then blood pissed out everywhere, taught me a lesson, but other guys were a bit cross as i was only a beginner and he has a lot of experience...i didnt care tho tbh lol
