[Solved] First Casualty of the New Season

So it is Martin O'Neill who is first to go - where does that leave Villa who were obviously looking to push on this season.

Must have something to do with him being forced to sell players like Milner and not being allowed to buy (Steven Pienaar!) - What a shame think he is a great manager and will be back soon.

Or is there something sinister happening?

I think its down to cash - Martin wanted to push on to the next level but being forced to sell Milner and minimal transfer funds he has decided he can't do the job he wants to do at Villa.

Not great to lose your manger 5 days before the start of the new season though.

So what now for Martin O'Neill - always thought he would be the next Man U boss - but he will now go abroad (possibly Ajax?)

Now what is going on...

First Chris Hughton who rescued Newcastle from the Championship, drastically reduced the wage bill and sitting in the middle of the Premier League having thumped local rivals Sunderland 5-1! His Xmas bonus is to be sacked WHY???

Second Sam Allardyce guided Blackburn to 10th last season, sitting comfortably mid table but a drop in form result - sacked by new owners.

Do these people really believe that their clubs are underperforming at the moment???

Its a cruel world

I reckon Carlo Ancellotti could be next to go...

Or Roy Hodgson...

Sackings of Hughton and Allardyce were absolutely shameful. Both owners should be soundly spanked. Newcastle are one of my pet teams ...along with Man U, Leeds, Wycombe ...and a few others (can't really claim to be anything more than a neutral, as I sit too comfortably at the prawn sandwich end 😳 )

So, who's next? In order:
Hodgson - Any truth in the Coyle rumour
Grant
Houllier
Ancelotti
Martinez

When will they ever learn ...a manager is not just for Christmas!

Not sure you had to be an octopus to see that one coming 🙂 . I feel a bit sorry for Hodgson. He's obviously a half decent manager, but it just seemed to be a wrong decision from day 1. I'm sure he will do well again at Villa or Blackburn, or wherever he ends up.

Now, as for Grant. I'm seriously doubting his credentials. I used to think he was a boring but steady hand at the helm, destined for (just below) mid table mediocrity; safe in a "oh, later on today, I think I'm going to kill myself ...if I can be bothered" ...sort of way. But I'm starting to wonder now.
Chelsea: He did OK ...but he did inherit a pretty good team - Paul could have managed that lot.
Portsmouth: Half decent team, awful results, ...relegated!
West Ham: Half decent team, awful results, ...

Manager of the season, so far: Ian Holloway ...I think he's great. Mad as a hat. Loud mouthed. Opinionated. Getting results. It's like watching a coke'd up, bald, Jose Mourinho.

Think Ian Holloway is doing a great job and like Harry Redknapp is brilliant in his press conferences.

I think Roy Hodgson will get a job soon and good luck to him, still wondering where Martin O'Neill will end up?

I agree that Grant will be next, and think Ancellotti soon after. Think Martinez may survive to the end of the season as there is no-one else (unless Allardyce wants it!)

Big question is where is Diego Maradona going??? Blackburn?

Diego Maradona? Why Liverpool, of course !!!

Seriously though, will the English fans give him a moments peace, if he comes here. Could lead to some interesting chants. I think he will be one of our more colourful managers ...for a while ...and will probably be sacked again before the season is out.

OK - so where is he really going? On Saturday, Arsenal are going to embarrass West Ham. Having been spanked by Ipswich last week, they are going to want to flex their muscles and they will do this by humiliating West Ham, in on of those big 5 or 6 nil wins. By Tuesday, Avram Grant will have been either sacked, or assassinated ...and before the end of the month West Ham will announce that they have beaten Blackburn to the signing of the man with the hand. West Ham will not win another game for the rest of the season and following their inevitable relegation, Maradona will be publicly executed at Upton Park, at half time during a pre-season friendly.

The talk was Martin O'Neill at West Ham -the question is WHY???

Think they are doomed and they should probably let Avram stay and go down on the sinking ship - they should then find someone like Paolo Di Canio or Chris Hughton to bring them back up.

As for Maradona he will go to Wigan - as he speaks little English and the harsh reality of the North would be a just punishment for anyone who remembers 1986. Would love to see him in the Estate Agents trying to negotiate the price of a house!!!
