Ok so I suspect like most of you we collected a huge bag of conkers already.... I never really went in for the 'treatments' but was fasinated to read about passing them through a pigs digestive system!!??? http://www.dadtalk.co.uk/news/world_con ... nships.php . Check it out!
Hi Ronaldo,
Great post. I picked up a conker a couple of weeks ago for nostalgia. I haven't played conkers for years. I never hardened them either.
How on earth would someone get a pig to swallow a conker whole - I would have thought the pig would have crushed it into smitherines.
Just incase someone hasn't played, here are the rules.
Lol can you imagine the process of trying to ge the pig to eat the thing without crushing it but not knowing until you fished ur way thru the dung at the other end!
Needless to say My 8 yr old an his mates loved the idea
urrrggggghhh could you imagine collecting it at the other end - surely no one wants to win that badly.
Is it true that spiders don't like conkers? In the home we are regularly coming across large spiders and wondered what on earth we could do to try keep them out. I read somewhere recently that conkers could be the answer as spiders don't like them for some reason so any thoughts?
Apparently the Royal Society of Chemistry are going to investigate if this is correct (according to the Mail online) the story is here Conker&Spiders

Cheers for that Goonerplum. The site was having technical difficulties when I tried to access but I'll take a look later.
I actualy read that conkers were being placed inside tunnels on model railways to deter spiders from constructing their webs inside. Fancy the Royal Society of Chemistry now lagging behind a typical railway modeller! 😀
I think I have found the Conkers & Spiders link. Here's a lovely conker photo which can be found in the article...
