They were both at fault in my opinion. The ball boy is the son of one of the directors of Swansea City and a very rich and spoilt young man by all accounts. Apparently, prior to the game he posted on Twitter "needed for time wasting"....so, not a lot of sympathy for him!!

The beautiful game is highly charged and the players full of adrenaline, there are bound to be incidents.... Eden Hazard (what a great name!!) was red carded, punishment enough I think. All is fair in Love and war....and football! 😆

I disagree I'm afraid: Hazard shouldn't have done what he did no matter the provocation - that's why there is a referee, he could have hurt the kid. Doesn't matter that retrospectively we find out that he was 17 (still legally a minor btw), a bit of a spoilt millionaires son, the son of a club director and intending to time waste. He could have been 12 years old, a nice kid and got hurt.

Hazard deserved his red card and should get further punishment - The FA have to protect ball boys and girls who in the main are a lot younger (and I would be saying the same thing if it had been an Arsenal player). There is a duty of care towards the kids and they can't let players physically challenge them in any way.

of course this is just my opinion - I'm sure others will see the incident differently.

Gooner

I think that the ball boy was an idiot and should be banned by Swansea for ever, however I also agree that Hazard should not have done what he did - I guess he saw a red mist and just reacted badly.

I think he will be banned for many games and the boy will get a huge payout from one of the Sunday papers
