My question really is what do you think? Have we lost what masculinity is in our culture? What makes a man? Does that YouTube sum it up? Do we need fathers?
Cheers,Buzz
good question about masculinity - what the heck is it these days? i have no idea. Men have been stripped bare of all manliness and most of us have become weaker middleclass nobodies. We live lives that are dull and boring, there is no adventure no call to the wild no sense of purpose outside of bringing home the rent or morgage. Our sons have very little to look up to , to aspire to. They seek thrills and adventure too and if i was 16 again i would be looking around thinking IS THAT IT? IS THAT ALL THAT LIES AHEAD FOR ME. no wonder gangs, drugs and violence is on the increase, these are the readily available pulls of adventure that our kids can grab hold of. when will people wake up and realise that men need to be men, that doesn't mean rude, abusive, violent.. it means solid, purposeful and strong. Men need to be free form politically correctness and social norms to be men. Last century bras were burnt and women threw themselves under horses. I don't agree with the tactics of climbing Buck House or the House of P but i can see why men feel the need and why they dream up adventurouse stuff to do. Superheros that is what our sons are looking to us to be. π‘ !: π
You appear to have focused not on men, but our modern day life... - the "faux adventure" of the real world. Our films, adverts, tv, and culture are all saying that exciting things happen every day. But this is not reality - it's just our expectation has been raised...
On the other hand we've never been able to do more amazing things... GPS can tell you where you are anywhere in the world - do you know how far that satallite is away? 26,000 km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm, doesn't answer what being a man is - BUT I don't think this life is dull...
I went pot-holing at the weekend - does that make me a man π π ) π
Loved the video buzz - cool! Watched Braveheart the other night - now that is a man....... or what about Saving Private Ryan.... these are movies about real men
We need top ten movies about a being a man!! Moderators can we have something on the main site??
