I saw this article and found it interesting Computer games good for children.
I was encouraged by "... parents and grandparents should play their children's computer games to improve their own memory and brain function." So I don't need any more encouragement to have a bit of time on the console this Christmas.
What do you think about your children playing computer games??
I think the multiplayer games are good for family time - esp on the Wii. But also other games were you are working together (or against each other).
I really get annoyed at this - "all computer games are bad" attitude that seems to be out there. Kids can learn an awful lot about logic, and teamwork from some of the games - granted others are not so wholesome, but my take is just don't buy those ones....
For me - Mario Karts on Wii - hours of family fun 😮 )
I agree with you Ron - in moderation these are good for them. They also need to be confident with computers as they will no doubt have to work with them.
I held the Ski Jump world record for all of 60 seconds on the Winter Olympics games but what fun...
Mario
I like to have a game of Fifa 2010 with my step-son from time to time-I usually get beat but it seems good bonding in my experience as your doing something that do so passsionatly.
We've got a Wii aswell and it won't be too long before my little boy will want to have a drive on Mario Kart,I do think the Wii is great for interactive family fun.
I agree that the multi-player computer games certainly do have a place in family life - it's like anything else, in moderation.
As for records, I am currently the record holder at Wii Hula Hoop, much to my 9 year old niece's amusement - it nearly killed me!
Mikey - i did boxing yesterday on Wii - man my arms hurt..... is this Wii thing back for your health?
