I just helped a friend get back to the UK from Venice, we had to organise a train to Milan, another to Zurich and a further one from Zurich to Paris. They stayed overnight in Paris then got the Eurostar to Calais and then the ferry to Dover where they hired a car back to Stansted airport.
We had to book it all as they had no internet access.
Crazy but like many people they needed to get home!
What travel tales have you heard of in the past week

I fly a microlight as a hobby - don't get time to go so much these days, but last Sunday was a day when I just had to go up - to be able to say that I could fly when the 'big boys' were grounded.
Weather looked good, but was actually rough as [censored] - but I did it just the same.
Had a very similar case to you supermario. Had a friend stuck in Rome and had to help them get back. It took forever and no doubt cost them a lot. I still know a few that have still yet to get back.
Flying a microlight whilst the air is clear sounds like great fun actd. Would love to take that up as a hobby - one day.

Had a friend coming back from Australia flying on Emirates - they told him the plane was going no further than Dubai and they would put him up in a 5 star hotel.
Notice the past tense for "had a friend" lucky so and so!!!
