My so-called hard up gas/electric company have notified me that due to the hard times they are having that I am having to endure another price hike just as the snow lands!!

Is £50m profit not enough eh? you poor things you.

Is it me or are these corporates just bullying us all - over 10% of my household income is now spent on fuel that can't be right?

I changed a few months ago (I was one of the utility companies dream customers before that who couldn't be bothered to change) - went to OVO energy and they assessed my new monthly payment to be what the old company was charging before the price hike they were about to impose, so I switched. Thing is, I pay about £160 per month for dual fuel, and within 6 months, I'd built up to be about £500 in credit, and they pay interest on credit balances, which in itself is unusual. The did announce a price hike a couple of months ago, but offered a fixed rate for 12 months, which I took.

I'm certainly very happy with them so far, but whoever you are with, it's well worth going on the comparison websites to see if it's worth changing.

I've just noticed that OVO are offering me an incentive to get other people to sign up - if I recommend anyone and they sign up, I get £40 credited to my account - if anyone is thinking of switching to OVO, let me know beforehand and I'll recommend you and split the incentive 50/50 - I presume that OVO will credit me within a month so I'll pay as soon as my statement shows the credit.

Although I'd recommend OVO on the basis of their service and charges, I would recommend checking out comparison websites to see if they are best for you - just treat the £20 as a bonus if you do decide to switch to them πŸ˜€
