Allowing your kids to see where you work can give them an insight into your life it also allows and let your colleagues see a different side to you

Yesterday was "take your kids to work day" did anyone do this or are your employers too "strict" to allow children on site ?
Have a look here

What benefits if any do you think your kids could gain from this ?

Years ago, when my three were anything between 3 yrs and early teens I used to take them to work a few times a year.
If I was forced to work on Saturday I had laid down the understanding that the weekend is family time so you get me and my kids. Yes it slightly reduce my effectiveness, but the children loved it.
They got excited when they saw their whiteboard scribbles from a year before."
Very much as you say - they had a better idea of where I was when "Daddy can't come home I'm working late..."
They were able to ask me questions "... are you near the doors by the plants", "are you upstairs or downstairs"

Once, a security guard gave me a 'telling off' because he got a shock when he saw children running around near the drinks machine near my desk 😆

I was more accepting of times I had to work because I knew my employer put up with my kids now and then.

Hi

My kids would love to come to work with me but as per normal the "Health and Safety" brigade would have kittens!! There are several forms and countless people that need to authorise this that it would be impossible.

I am on the road from time to time and may consider taking them with me during the holidays.

I do think that they believe I spend all day in front of my laptop (on ebay) or on my mobile (chatting!) so it would be good to show them what I do when I am out and about but as I work from home two days a week that is pretty much what they see me do!!!

Mario
