[Solved] Stay at home Dads

Not sure where this fits in the the DT forum. Not organised like other forums I have used, but need to put this out there.

I am a stay at home Dad, working 16 hours a week. That not really the problem. Problem I have is mental health. Anxiety mainly. Find it very difficult to be out and about in town. Find it difficult to meet new people. Angry at people very easily. Not making much sense as the little one is crying and feel like he has done it all afternoon. Feel like he is doing it because his Mom will be home soon.

Help. Anyone know where I can go to meet other SAH Dads? I'm in Sheffield if that helps.

Hi

I'm sorry to hear that you suffer from anxiety and that this makes it difficult to go out and about. Do you have any help at all. You might want to contact Anxiety UK, perhaps having a look at their website first http://www.anxietyuk.org.uk for more information about this condition.

Unfortunately I don't know of any specific places where you can meet other SAH dads, however there are two good websites you might not know about, who may be able to help. They are http://www.homedad.org.uk and http://www.stayathomedads.co.uk which are home dads' support sites.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Hi there,

I realise you posted this quite a while ago and I'm not the stay-at-home dad you're after, but I'd be interested in speaking to you.

My name is Anna and I am a trainee journalist at Sheffield University.

Two of my colleagues and I are putting together a dissertation magazine for stay-at-home dads.

Part of our project is putting together a short video to accompany the magazine's website. I'd be interested in talking to you about your mental illness, how you manage bringing up children and what problems arise.

Only my tutor and an external marker would see the video and it would really help our project out.

Please do get in touch.

Thank you for your time,

Anna Jordan
