What did you think to it?

Honestly I don’t really know what to think……I think the idea was a reasonable one to try and get out there but where were we fathers represented? Where were the dads who are being refused contact? Where were our supporters? People like F4J or FNF???

Reading the new law the government are trying to push through at face value it sounds like we fathers should get more rights…..however reading some comments sounds very much like we fathers are in for more barriers and delays.

I like Geldof’s take on this, in the separation between partners surely parenting should be automatically 50/50 split unless there are good reason for it not to be!

The reality seems that stereo types are applied…i.e. Mum’s stay at home…dad’s go to work….therefore Dads automatically cannot care for the child 50% of the time hence why I think we are straight away advised that being a weekend dad is the only thing we can and should expect on splitting up!
But why??? These days many mothers go to work too….yes there are lots that don’t and don’t want to work cos they’re better off on benefits – house, holidays, etc… (yes I know they’re not all like that!)

People like F4J or FNF???

or DAD for that matter 8)

I personally thought it was a little short and in the time allowed obviously they would not be able to go into a great amount of detail.
It was a good starting point, I hope someone else picks up the baton and pushes the debate on further.

I found it really interesting that F4J thought it was anti-dad and pushing a feminist agenda whilst pro female groups were calling it Misogynistic - so it must have been a little balanced.

I thought it was sadly typical of most documentaries made today - dumbed down and lacking any real depth whatsoever. I've never liked Tom Lovejoy and he certainly is not documentary maker - make on earth show him taking his girls to a shopping centre when you only have 30 minutes (minus ad time) to look at a massive issue?

The debate is calling out for a decent documentary. I would think it could sustain a whole series.
