Hi Folks
My wife took our 2002 Ford fiesta for an MOT check the other day. Although it passed, the advisory notes said :
Nearside front (rear bush) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement.
Offside front (rear bush) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement.
Could someone please be kind enough to explain what these notes mean, how much it would cost to get it repaired/replaced, and if it dangerous to drive without having them repaired/replaced.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Hi Geek,
The suspension arms help to keep the suspension rigid, you will have metal rods/beams that connect the different parts together, these beams have rubber bushes that the bolts slot through which stop knocking noise as metal to metal would.
by the looks of it the rubber is starting to perish I wouldn't look at changing them as they have passed the MOT with just an advisory, they will probably slowly get worse get them re checked in 6 months if your worried or at next years MOT if your not.
GTTS
Thanks GTTS
I agree - if they were dangerous now, then it wouldn't have passed it's MOT, but the advisory means it will almost certainly fail the next one. I'd get it sorted sooner rather than later simply because you have time to get quotes now and pick a garage you like. The parts will be quite cheap I think, I'm not sure on the labour, but see if you can get a recommendation for a garage.
