...Well its only another 6 sleeps to Christmas! Hopefully Santa will have sipped his drink , eaten his mince pie and left a bundle of presents for us all!

What are you hoping to find under the christmas tree? Which pressies will make the faces of your little ones light up the most on christmas morning?

What traditions do you as a family observe over christmas?

....I'm hoping for an Ipad.

I think the present that my grandson will love will be his Incredible Hulk hands with sounds and his Ben 10 portable DVD player! Although it could be his remote controlled car or his huge Transformers toy! I'll let you know!

We always have hot sausage rolls whilst we open the pressies.

Because I keep all the cards I receive and pack them away with the decorations each year, I have the last christmas cards that were sent to me from my Mum and Dad and Aunts and Uncles ,and this year sadly my darling Brother Rays card will be joining them... I take some quiet time on christmas day, reading them and holding them and remembering happy christmases past...

I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and every success in the New Year!

Got my dog one of these,

Babble ball should be fun for 5 mins watching him go mental then become mildly irritating afterwards due to the noises as for me got a Samsung 8.9 pad....Ivan always buys himself something nice

My wife lost her job when her employer found out she was pregnant (yes, I know they're not allowed to do that, but the business owner - herself a mother - got rid of her on probation, telling her one thing to her face yet writing something else down in the dismissal letter... Effectively her word against my wife's). We took the decision at the time that she would instead take a home qualification to help her make the career change she has wanted to do for ages rather than try to find some work whilst (as she was then) four months pregnant. In effect, short term pain for long term gain.

Long story short, this year is going to be a fairly low key affair for us.

Also, it doesn't help that throughout the year I've bought myself a few toys, such as a new bike (but in my defence, I did sell one of my old ones to help fund it! 😉 ) and a tablet. So there's not much I do want. And after secretly saving for several months I bought my wife a Kenwood mixer at the end of November as an early Christmas present.

On the plus side, all that allows us to focus on our son!

I suppose you could class the new baby a few days after Christmas as an extra present too...

We are having a low key christmas too, after getting married on 1st Dec our funds are low so had to cut back. we areen't buying for each other this year just things for the boys to give us. We did both get Tiffany wedding rings though 😉

That sid we have managed to pick up Scalextrics for the boys.

LikeChutzpah I buy the things I want when I see them so I'm not easy to buy for though I sold my bike this year and didn't buy another but the money is going towards our holiday next year which will be our honeymoon with the children included.

Our tradition will be a little different this year as my son will wake with us for the first time since I left his mum, he will arive around (pm on christmas eve.

But christmas eve we make mince pies whilest drinking home made eggnog, then watch an old film this year will be Annie, with some kind of "naughty food" in front the tv, christmas morning will be open stockings once the boys wake up (I will have to keep my wife from waking them as she gets more excited than they do) then breakfast with more eggnog (without alcohol) then open main pressies, the rest of the day will be low key and we aren't setting foot outside the front door as I don't want to be stuck in the car driving around.

We have already had an early xmas day with the grandchildren so my son and his daughter could have a family day as he wont see her now till middle of Jan, it was great watching the children open pressie. Now its time to relax and concentrate on the rest of the family as its been a stressful few months. I intend to have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with fresh orange, there will be me , hubby and step daughter step son and my son waking up, so we will exchange pressies, then a bit of driving, dropping off and then meeting up at my sons girlfriends parents with most of my family as well , its so lovely of them to host Christmas day. Where i intend to eat drink and be merry. Diet will start 2nd of January whaere i also intend to stop drinking till I have reached my goal weight, . Have a lovely day everyone.
ps Nannyjane i know what you mean about thinking about loved ones, At 6pm I always go out side and look up to the stars and say Hi to my Dad, he passed away Christmas day at 6pm x

And a Merry Xmas from me to you all, as well!

My son will be looking forward to his presents. He does not know yet what Father Xmas chose (but it's Star Wars Lego and he will go nuts!)

I am hoping for....god it's probably sad but probably a PS 3 game. Either Fifa 13 or Black Ops 2. Not sure I dropped enough hints though!
In all seriousness, like other members on here, ours will be low key. Money is incredibly tight. The mrs and I have agreed no presents for each other, just the kids. I know she'd love to see Michael Buble in concert but we can't afford the tickets. So as a bit of humour, I bought a live dvd/cd combo of his and she will have to make do with that! At least she will get a great view!

Step Kids, wow, my step son's birthday is on xmas day. He is getting a lap top (the mrs put by money for some time, for it) and the step daughter, probably some vouchers for a clothes shop that she really likes. I know it's a bit of a cop out but she can get to chose her own clothes (she is a teenager after all!) and to be honest, we were a bit stuck for ideas, for her.

We have only two traditions. First, (like many,) is opening stockings first that are always filled with small but fun items. i usually get chocolate and beer in mine 🙂 The second is a panto on Boxing Day. It's always a fun afternoon out!

We have both sets of parents round from xmas eve for two days. It worked fine last year and hopefully will, this year.

Merry Xmas everyone!

N.D.

I have asked for a couple of pairs of track suit trousers as my son is now borrowing mine and when I need some they are in his wash basket!

Have spent a fortune on the boys this year and looking forward to the day and like many on here my wife and I have bought things we need rather than grand gestures!!

We will save a little money and put it towards our holiday

Hi Chutzpah

Whilst you may just accept this your wife is heavily protected by the law in this case - have you considered appealing the decision? Have you any evidence to suggest this decision was taken as a result of her being pregnant.
You cannot claim for unfair dismissal unless you have worked for the company for a minimum of two years unless you can claim discrimination of some kind - therefore as long as the dismissal was less than 3 months ago and you have some evidence that she was discriminated against and pregnancy is a massive piece of evidence then it may be worth going to an Employment Tribunal

It is completely free at the moment to lodge a case and you can walk away at any time - If you feel strongly that your wife was unfairly dismissed then go for it - all you need to do is fill out this claim form

We've all had a wonderful day but I sit watching Downton Abbey, full to overflowing from too much food and worn out, but extremely content! Cheers everybody!

We had a great day too,

The boys loved the Scalextrics and lego and spent all day making up different kits.

I got a wireless keybaord to go with my Blackberry tablet which is great.

The only issue I had was a mad dash on christmas eve to exchange some perfume I'd got my wife as her sister had been given the same one the day before for her birthday and my wife commented on how she really didn't like the smell!!!! :boohoo:

got it exchanged though and all was well.
