I read this article online saying that the government want our children to learn languages to help our country and businesses.
What do you think about this?
It would definitely make helping with homework very interesting and perhaps a little bit more difficult.
Why not eh? I would have loved to learn Mandarin.
I think they need to make sure the kids can read and write English (and maybe any other home language) first though! I work in education so don't get me started on Labour's attempt to change things that don't really need changing, just so they get a few headlines and a few votes! It's a shame because actually up until quite recently Labour has done amazing things for education in this country.
Anyway this maybe isn't the place for politics!
Easy,

I learnt to speak Cantonese - not easy coz of the 6 "Tones" that there are. Anyway not a problem now coz Chinese Gov have decided to stop using Cantonese and forced everyone in Hong Kong to learn Mandarin!!
Do they not know how long and hard it was to learn GRRRRRRR ! 🙄
I believe Mandarin is easier as it has less tones.
Hi all
Not sure about Mandarin but I wish I had learned another language at school - my pidgeon french doesnt get me anywhere and despite my best efforts to learn "Two beers please" in as many languages as possible I do think that the English are the worst for learning other languages.
I try to encourage my kids to learn so they will be better equipped in the future!
