[Solved] Maintenance payments not going to child benefit

Hi, I'm new to this forum but need some advice. I split with my partner nearly 3 years ago now, our daughter is 3 and a half and im probably not the only one who has suffered a negative approach by her mother in relation to access and other stuff. I pay more than the required maintenance every month but I have recently found out that her mother is under a debt management agency, therefore my maintenance has been paying off her debt since the start of the year. The consequence of this is that my daughter is not attending pre school, as the mother just wont pay for it even though I give her the money. What are my options here, there must be a way for me to get her into pre school as a 'responsible parent'. I cannot give this girl cash.

Advice appreciated - Glen

Hi Glen

well, first thing is to stop paying any more than you are required to, as it's not benefiting your daughter at all, and in fact it might not even be of benefit to your ex. If she's paying under an IVA, I think it's for a fixed term before it's written off, so even if she pays less, it doesn't change the term of the agreement.

You have the option to set up a contract directly between you and the pre-school if that's what is preventing her from going, or is it that your ex won't/can't pay for travel?
