What do people think of the Domestic violence bill currently being discussed on the news?

I like the sound of it in principle I’d certainly like to know if a new partner was had a criminal past with violence / domestic abuse etc… as i'm sure would many other men and women.

But how about something for us guys to protect ourselves from scheming evil ex’s who make false allegations and lie to keep us from our children?

I’m not totally blinkered to realise that with some cases there is some times truth behind the claims, but what about those of us who haven’t done anything wrong but because the ex cried at the right time in front of the right people we got tarnished with that domestic incident brush!

Luckily for me my ex finally admitted in court she had lied and that I hadn’t done anything that she had used to try and defend her actions in keeping my son away from me!
I’m now facing a battle with the police to reverse a verbal harassment warning I was issued with back in 2011. The police acted with only the information they had to hand, false information and lies but my proof was accepted but they still issued me the warning and I quote “because they have seen these things escalate before to a point where someone has been killed”
And because of that I now have a record against my name for harassing my ex…….that is until I can clear it! I have tried and been dismissed by a chief inspector because his officer issued it correctly (he claims!) even though she didn’t take in to account the other officers notes!
I find myself now writing to my MP for his help in forcing the police to reverse it and wipe it from record. I doubt somehow i’ll get that done.

Hi there

I think you have a really good point but as with Claire's law nothing will happy until something goes horribly wrong - in her case she was murdered.

I cant see the law changing as some women will use this weapon as the ultimate weapon, some only have to threaten it

Not sure what the answer is...could you get it supported by a local MP or someone?
