Plans for hundreds of new playgrounds have been ripped up in the latest round of Government spending cuts. Ministers have frozen grants to 132 councils for up to 1,300 playgrounds – many of which were originally designed by children. The only schemes that will definitely go ahead are those where construction has already begun.
Any thoughts?
Maybe I'm being cynical, but it seems that a lot of smaller, low cost, high visibility schemes are being cut. Seems very short sighted.
Maybe I'm just cynical, but seems that new government is making a lot of smaller, lower cost, high visibility cuts so they can say that labour were spending beyond their means. I have no doubts that cuts need to be made, but a lot seem to be very short sighted.
