Well the government is going to consult on whether to scrap these and go back to O Levels
To hopefully be ready for Sept 2014 - the year my youngest chooses his options
Thanks - Great decision in this time of austerity lets force the teachers and schools to go on training courses, get new text books etc!!!
What for - so we can justify £9k university fees?
It seems that experiments have been done all the way through my childrens education (oldest is now 23) - fortunately they seem to have survived the changes, with a divorce and custody thrown in just to help matters along.
For the first time, though my youngest (almost 14) looks like she might benefit from one of the experiments as a new studio school is starting where I live and she's got in - initially, the school has enrolled only year 10s so she is going to be one of a maximum of 40 students in the school, which along with excellent facilities (they are sharing the local 6th form premises until their new school building is ready next year) and she starts off with half a day a week work experience, rising to 2 days per week by sixth form (for which she will get paid) with local hi-tec firms. I'm not going to turn down the chance, but it does seem that it's another very expensive experiment.
