[Solved] Education for black pupils

With all the stats on black boys underachievement. What do other forum members think.
Is it the schools responsibility for the failure of our black pupils. A report on the daily telegraph had a very disturbing article about tax payers money going to fund trips for black pupils to visit museums and other educational trip.
I was disturbed by the forum members who feel that our black pupils are having it easy under the expense of tax payers.
What are your thoughts dads.

I haven't seen the postings by forum members about black children having it easy, so I can't comment.

I would say that funding trips to museums etc is a reasonable use of taxpayers money for any children - for gifted children, it is a reward, for underachieving children, then hopefully it's educational. And that, I believe, should be the only distinction - whether they are achieving their potential, not the colour of their skin.

The article and forum was on the daily telegraph. Unfortunately I am unable to locate it.
I thought this is a positive video for many dads out there or young viewers of dadtalk videos.

Hi there

There are so many different views on this, I have attached a recent survey (also in Telegraph) which now states Poor White boys are the poor performers
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/6606591/Poor-white-boys-are-worst-performers-at-11.html

I heard on the radio that for boys it is not cool to be clever and especially with black boys as the "gang culture" is stronger.

Therefore the job of teaching these kids is about stimulating them.

My wife is a secondary school teacher at a london school. Frustratingly most of the children in the exit room are black and a higher percentage are under achievers.
The other telling statistics for her to all of this is that it seems to tally in the main with those with no father (unaware whether they have any other strong male role model).
Also for her the pupils who are the most aggressive are the black pupils. Most of the kids are fine but those that are outside of the norm are too often black.

The family life aspects always seem to be ignored when talking about the education system and it is put onto the teachers. Unless we go back to having less inclusion in the main stream, so that some of these children can get closer to a less than 1:10 teacher/student ratio to be able to stimulate, I do not see too much changing. πŸ™
