Whilst sat at home today , enjoying the extra days off that Easter brings thoughts of my younger years came back to me.
Coming from a very catholic household, Easter had a huge build up - starting with lent and the giving up of something I held dear (normally sweets or a toy), leading up to Palm Sunday when we paraded around our church - inside & out carrying palm leaf crosses ( I actually still have one of them in my memory box). No mention of Easter eggs was made , now that is all it seems to be about.
I was really reminded of this when discussing family friends with my husband - the wife had gone off for a few days whilst the husband had to work - to me like Christmas, Easter will always be a family time.
What does Easter mean to you ? Is it just another bank holiday with endless traffic queues, another reason to meet up with relatives you have not seen for a long time or does it still mean something else to you.
