[Solved] Best way to get a 'good' handyman?

Hi Folks

A friend of mine has a disability which is increasing as he gets older. He lives by himself and now finding it increasingly difficult to do general DIY around that house.

Could someone suggest how to go about finding a good reliable handyman to carry out the odd DIY jobs around the house, every now and again?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hey recommendation is always best - but checkatrade/similar sites are pretty useful as they are individually rated for jobs they did so if there are a lot of positive reviews, the chances are they are pretty good.

You could try age concern as well, they operate a list of tradesmen. Also the local council may do.

When I stayed in Middlesex, my ex is disabled, age concern gave us a list of people that they had vetted. You dont have to be old to use age concern disabiity is enough or was for us.

Regards,

Dave

Hi,

Also any local lettings agent would have a handyman on thier books you could drop into one and just ask if they could give you the number of who they use, chances are the person they use would be trustworthy as a lot of the time they attend homes when no one is home to carry out work.

Yes, I gathered that! That's why I asked where abouts in the country your friend is because if he is local to me I might be able to help but hey ho!

Good Morning Folks

I apologize for my earlier comment. I completely misunderstood what Andy meant.

My friend lives in the West Midlands.
