Hello dads at dadtalk. I have a big question. Do you dads get the hamp with doing house chores? cleaning, packing dishes away, feather dusting on top of all other jobs a man does in and around the house?

Hey Millerzd - did you see the other thread on chores http://www.dadtalk.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... 19036#p922

Some interesting discussions there too.

They've gotta be done. I guess you can gumble and whinge whilst you do them or try to find a way to enjoy them. Can't say I can always do that but...

The chores I hate are the ones that are beyond me. Like anything involving water in pipes. Or patience!

I think you've covered most things, talldad, though could have added any chores that involves electricity as well

Ah, now, I'm okay with electricity. And technology. And I can wallpaper and paint walls (not so good at the gloss-painting-fiddly-bits -see earlier reference to patience). And hit things with a hammer. Not so good at putting them back together again.

Hi there

When I emerge from the garage with my toolbox my family run for the hills - I think I am getting better but my past disasters are regurgitated to remind me that "Handy Andy" I am not.

I do however know my limitations unlike my friend who recently managed to find a water pipe and flooded the whole house as he didn't know where the stopcock was and then when he found it couldn't switch it off!!

Done that on a small scale at my mothers house - rashly assumed that the stop tap would turn off the water, and disconnected her old dishwasher, only to find that the tap didn't do anything useful at all. Only flooded part of the kitchen before managing to reconnect the dishwasher pipe again.

... feather dusting ...

Just wondering: Does anyone still use feather dusters or even one of these colourful manmade ones?

I think we have one in the house but I haven't used it...

Funnily enough I put the Christmas decorations up today and located the tickling stick and got rid of all cobwebs around the ceiling πŸ™‚
