Heard about this on the radio on the way home from work.
I'm not in agreement with these stunts as I think it gives a negative feel to what fathers are fighting towards, that said it does give publicity to the cause
GTTS
I don't mind them doing sensible stunts, but these types of events are what turns the people, government and the Courts against the organisation!
I have never looked at F4J as a serious organisation because of the negative publicity that they attract. It may well be that they do very good work, but who is going to take notice of what they ask for when their members pull stunts like this.
...I bet the head honchos at F4J are pissed off about this! They have been trying to put on a more acceptable front recently...and sometimes actions do speak louder than words! I'm all for positive action though! 😉
The head honchos seem to have acknowledged that he was a member - they might have been better distancing themselves from his actions. Direct action is not a problem as long as it is within the law, but this stunt was simply stupid and does nothing but alienate F4J from a lot of people (I heard the news when I was driving home, and my immediate reaction was "the stupid f**k, what does he think he will achieve by that?")
Damage limitation, better that they say it than it be revealed by another source I guess! I agree though one stupid mofo!
Is it any wonder that negative stereotypes exist when stupid acts like this take place. Violence, abuse, aggression, vandalism are never the answer.
Im ex forces so whilst I have sympathy for the chaps situation, assuming it is similar to mine, this stunt really upset me.
Its all about the publicity - and if you ask anyone to name a group associated with fathers rights they are the famous ones so it is obviously working.
The danger is if they overstep the mark people will just see them as troublemakers
I think F4J is the one if those cases which disproves that there is no such thing as bad publicity. This father got bad publicity for F4J - but be honest, if you weren't in a situation where you sympathised with his plight, or were on here, would you have picked up from the case what his situation was?
I've got to admit I'm having a major opinion shift on this....acts of desperation, these men are in deep despair and I don't think we can judge their actions in any other context than that. These are normal, average, everyday guys for the most part, that have been driven to take this kind of action because all else has failed.
Here's another poor mans story, don't judge him....hes being called stupid, a vandal and a vigilante...but his whole life has been vandalised and his masterpiece, his creation, his work of art, his son, has been taken from him...I find it immoral that the public only see it in the context of the painting, and whether it has adequate protection...no thought for the children behind the story, who's protecting them!
