Hey fellow dads.
What do you guys do in the way of exercise the now? Do use find it a struggle to fit it in with the wee one? Does anyone else feel like since there child has been born that theyve defo put on weight( i do lol) but find the thought of starting again quite a thought?
well, kids are no longer an excuse with me. When I met my wife, I was the fittest I've ever been in my life but I've put on about 3 stone since then. I've now committed to swimming at least twice a week before work (3 if I can) and I've just bought a rowing machine - not knocking off any weight so far, but my shape is slightly less round than it was. Also walk the dogs every day.
Good question,
Since my daughter was born i have been oddly proud of my dad girth (stomach haha), defending it saying its every fathers right to have one. 😆
Every weekend i go swimming with my daughter. I am currently giving up smoking too and want to start running. (in a few weeks that is.. i would pass out if i did it now.) and i might treat myself to a motocross again. Nice TSR200 i think, all upper body exercise.
How about you adam. What do you enjoy that you could incorporate exercise with?
I quite enjoy whipping out the baseball bat and twating spammers round the head on a sunday evening, great for arm muscles :woohoo:
Chill on the river bank with me rod and a fly looking to catch a big Greyling 🙂
Thanks guys. I'm actually a personal trainer myself but found since my beautifull daughter was born(shes a year and a half now) that ive certainly lost the shape i once had. I'Ve actually recently had the idea to run a fitness program only for dads(ill defo be doing it to hahah) but not sure if it was something that other dad's would be interested in? loved what chimp said about being proud of his dad girth n how its our right haha. Should mention here im not trying to sell anything to use just want to know if it would be something other dads would like to do with other dads?
@Adam Yes for sure! id be well interested!
Bet your not in manchester though?!
Unfortunatly im not from manchester but scotland near glasgow. Very interested in hearing what use would be interested in? my plan would be 3 sessions a week raging from 45 mins- an hour. What time would best suit you as a dad? would early training i.e 6am or 7am be of interest?
What would you hope to achieve from it? people saying your looking better? your kids noticing? Friendship with other dads in the same situation?
I do motocross and work for myself like 10 to 12 hours a day when I'm not with my son , seems to do the trick lol To all the people who want to train at the gym but live miles apart you could Skype 🙂
My head was that battered when I got stopped from seeing my Daughter 10 months ago I decided to Give up a 20 year cannabis addiction, Give up Cigarettes and stop Drinking, I went out and bought some weights and started training at home and I went running 3 times a week about 5 miles at a time.
I've never done a shred of exercise in my life and I'm cracking on 40 at the start of the year I was a skinny dying drug addict barely weighing 10.5 stone I had a bit of a slip up in august and started smoking again (stress of court case) but I've jacked it in again.
I now weigh 13.5 stone having filled out loads my family and friends are in utter shock when they see me they say I look like a different person at 6'2' ive filled out nicely all over so I'm well chuffed its amazing how the exercise has help me get through the courts and missing my daughter 🙂
Good lad,
Im in exactly the same boat. I have stopped smoking weed 3 weeks ago and stopped smoking dead in the aim of getting fitter. Im going to be doing the same as you, running, weights and swimming. but im still in early days yet but i WILL see it through.
Only difference between us is im 27.
Weed is a F***er to get out of your system mind you I smoked an 8th a day for 20 years, running is a winner for the first few weeks, drink plenty of fluids anything with "berry" at the end is good for detox eat plenty of chicken salads fruit green leafy [censored] it's all good for detox, I was in bits for about 10 weeks no sleep cold sweats disturbed sleep when I did finally get some started having dreams again it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done don't even want a spliff now although I do love the smell lol
