Hi Folks

Recently when I visited my dentist for a routine checkup, he suggested that I need my back teeth filling. However, I cannot see anything wrong with those teeth.

Do you think the dentist is suggesting that I may have problems in the future if I don't have the filling done, or is it a way for him to make more money out of me?

Should I go to another dentist to get a second opinion?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

How long have you been visiting this Dentist ? Do you trust him/her ? I wouldn't image that they would make up the need for fillings

Hi Goonerplum

Many thanks for your reply.

I visit the dentist every 6 months. What makes you think that the dentist would not make up the need for fillings.

Thanks

If you discovered he was asking you to have fillings you didn't really need it could hurt his reputation and therefore damage his image in the eyes of his patients, I doubt anyone in any profession would want that. If you don't mind are you on NHS or Private dental care?

That being said, it couldn't hurt to get a second opinion, just to be on the safe side.

Hi Robo

Thanks for your reply.

I am on NHS and not private care.
