Hi Enyamachaela,

My friend is an adult who just happens to be going through the courts applying for residency of his children. Much like me.....

I'm no expert but would imagine it would be down to stress, what's happening will be going over in thier heads and probably cuasing disturbed sleep, but then deeper patterns when they go off properly, this could be when the dreams start.

I would say talking may help, the more you can talk things through the clearer they will be which would hopefully mean less things going around in the head.

Ahem..and sorry to be a bore, but is he drinking of a night?. Might be a good idea not to.....and get out the old ovaltinies! 😆
No seriously, quit the alcohol if he is drinking of a night time. Perhaps listen to some nice music that relaxes him 🙂

Might be worth trying listening to white noise when going to sleep - may take a couple of nights to get used to it, and it needs to be on repeat with the track fading in/out at the start/end so it's not a sudden change.

Oohhh heck...I had to go and look those names up! 😆

I have heard white noise is excellent, never used it myself, but I am a believer in trying alternatives, meditation, yoga (but then that is the female in me maybe! 😆 ) but all are worth trying, what suits one person does not always suit another.

Funny you both mention meditation and yoga. I have done a little mindfulness meditation and wouldnt mind trying a bit of yoga.

Ill pass this onto him 😉

A cup of chamomile tea can help you sleep, ease you into restful dreams and calm anxiety.

Lavender essential oil is also an aid to restful sleep...a warm bath with a few drops of lavender oil can help to relax you...spraying your pillow with a lavender spray can help too!

when I was going through troubled times (and when I still go through them) it wasn't getting to sleep that was my issue it was always managing to stay asleep.

Waking at 2/3 in the morning and then not being able to go back to sleep.

They could be suffering with sleep apnea, as I do. Gives a daily dose of graphic nightmares, as REM sleep is very difficult to achieve. If there's excessive daytime sleepiness, or tiredness when driving, this could be a potential sign.
