You can have all my excess weight - 10 kg would be no problem. 😆

Hi Breytie

Are you sure you need to gain weight? Have you worked out your BMI? If so, what was it?

If youdo need to gain weight then obviously you need to take in more calories than you burn. Combining this with toning exercises helps, too.

Set yourself a realistic target and aim to gain weight gradually, at around 1kg (2.2lb) a month. For that you'll need an extra 300kcal to 350kcal a day. This is best done as part of a balanced diet.

It may help for you to keep a food diary for a couple of weeks or so to find out more about your eating habits (!) and to identify where you can add calories (might be a good idea for other dads too!).

One way is to make meals a little larger or more calorific. Have an extra slice of toast at breakfast, drink grape juice rather than orange juice, make coffee with milk or serve an extra spoon of potato, rice or pasta.

Although exercise burns calories, it's important to include some form of activity into your plan to keep your bones strong and your muscles toned.

Aim for 30 minutes' physical activity five days a week and combine this with some resistance training. Take care not to be too active. If you're always on your feet, make time to relax each day.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the tips Mikey.

I'm seeming to have the opposite problem....shifting the weight, or, more correctly, having the motivation to lose the weight. Last year I managed to lose 3.5 stone and everyone said how great i look, things started to fit nicely and I didnt have to worry about tops clinging to me all the time. 😀

However, this year it just seems to be creeping back on 🙄 and the worst part of it is that although I know i should be doing something about it, I just cant find the motivation. It seems that since the OH found out she is pregnant and we've started planning the next stage of our lives, the gym just doesnt interest me. And when I feel down or stressed i'm back to my old habits of reaching for the goody drawer!

I tell myself everyday that today is the day i'll go the gym and renew my membership...let's see how tomorrow goes eh? 😆

Hi, you've done really well in losing so much weight last year - it must have given you a real boost. The secret though is keeping it off and this is for most of us much harder to achieve.

Have you thought about joining Weight Watchers or other such slimming groups. The good thing about WW is you can be a member online and keep a daily diary of food consumed, points used etc, etc.

There is a huge amount of info, recipes etc - you may find that your motivation?

I hope this helps.
