Hi all,
I'm a keen runner and cyclist and at 38 my wife and I are expecting our first at the end of the September. We're both really excited but one thing I admit I am concerned about (perhaps selfishly??) is losing my running/cycling, and potentially losing fitness and ballooning in weight. I know and fully appreciate things will have to change as I won't have as much free time but having said that, I'd also really like to be able to maintain some level of fitness if possible.
Does anyone have advice on fitting in training in around working and a young family?
All the best,
Big G.
I'm sure you can get an hour here and there to continue with your routine. When the child is bigger you can use the pushchair as part of your routine too.
Could you commute to work? That way you could keep up your cycling also gives you the opportunity to discover new routes.
Also once your baby is old enough, there are seats that you can attach to your bike and allow you to take the child with you 🙂
My uncle is currently training for a run in october and his 5 year old son goes along with him on his bike, kinda like a scene out of Rocky!
Get the child seat as suggested above, and as soon as they are old enough, get them on their own bikes - not only will it help you, but it will help your own child(ren) to get away from computer games and enjoy keeping fit as they get older.
