I don’t think I qualify as mid-forties anymore and at a little over 20st I figure I should probably make a bit more effort to make it into my fifties. Having tried dieting/exercising in the past with limited success, I have decided to make public my intention this time (obviously anonymously, under an assumed name). Maybe It’ll spur me on to greatness ...or better still ...smallness.

I have had some success with Weightwatchers online in the past, so I am again signed up with them. It’s a good system where they give everything a points value and so long as you don’t exceed your daily allowance (too often), at the end of the week you can strut around like a pious cockerel, posing in mirrors and looking down your nose at anyone who is enjoying a small epicurean treat.

I currently get 34 points a day, to do with as I choose. Then I can make judgements about the points value of different foods throughout the day, e.g. bowl of bran flakes, banana, sultanas and skimmed milk = 6 points OR 3 tins of Stella = 6 points ...it’s before noon, so I think I’ll have the bran flakes for breakfast today.

Good luck Ratso.

I've successfully lost weight twice in the past - both times when I was getting divorced, so I think I need to find a different method now. 😆

Yes, will do my best to keep you updated ...until the point where I let this thread go cold, which means I've fallen off the wagon and had a plate full of deep fried Mars bars for lunch.

Strangely actd the only time I have really lost weight was when wife and I first got together and were doing that sickening thing of cooing at each other and forgetting to eat ...and then again, five years later, in the lead up to our wedding. I guess the natural progression would be to now go for the divorce. I will run it by her when she gets home from work.

Today in the news ...a revelation ...drinking water instead of eating food helps you lose weight

...yeah, but it's not as much fun as bacon sandwiches, chip butties and sixteen pints of Scruttock's "Old Dirigible".
