Hi all, I saw some threads about dieting and losing weight and I can totally connect with this.
Being a father of four I always exercise to keep myself fit to keep up with ym kids. I would love this thread to
be a place to share our work out routines so we can benefit from what works

Ok Gary, the idea of this sounds good. But with an every growing waste line I'm gonna need you to start me off. I do a couple of weeks but struggle to get a routine going? Help!
Hi what kind of stuff do you do? what kind of routines?
Interesting thread!
The closest I get to a routine is:
- we run out of milk / bread / cheese
- I load push chair with one of our kids
- do a round trip of 1 and a half or 2 hours, usually detouring to feed the ducks, have a coffee.
- it is a very gentle workout, sometimes pushing up hill is a minor workout.
The amusing thing is I got 3 years gym membership but I have had 2 failed attempts at using it... I have a bit under a year left on the membership. doh!
Last year I lost 2 and a half stone. I did this by not mixing carbs and fat, for example if you have a roast dinner just eat the meat and veg as much as you want, or steak and salad. I had porridge for breakie that was my carb meal then no more carbs. There are carbs in veg but thats ok. I also stopped drinking booze for 8 months. I joined a gym not for the gym but for the pool and I got a really good deal on the net , I could use the gym but not keen, prefer to swim ssome days theres only me there , its bliss, I swim then go in the whirlpool then steam room. Cut out bread, biscuits chips and no process food its full of rubbish, you need to plan ahead your meals. I never go hungry , Ive just had 4 rashes of bacon 2 eggs and mushrooms and toms this is classed as a fat meal . I do drink now but my hubby has converted me to real ale only the pale ones .
Aaaargh....I've gone from a size 12 to a size 16 in three years when I stopped smoking! I try to cut things out and eat sensibly but my partner goes out to the shop for "treats" when I dont get them in! We're as bad as each other! πΏ
I think I'm going to make a New Years Resolution, theres no way I can deprive myself over christmas!
10 years ago, when I met my wife, I was just over 40 and working for YMCA in London, so I had free use of a gym and swimming pool. I was there every lunchtime at least 4 times a week and was eating sensibly, and I was the fittest I have ever been in my life - 26" waist, 6 pack, the lot. Now it's all gone - 2 1/2 stone heavier and my excercise is limited to a 20 minute brisk walk each day with the dogs - and since I now work for a chocolate company, the eating sensibly has gone π
Won't be making a new years resolution, but I do have the stirrings that I ought to do something. Maybe one day.
