[Solved] DIET!!

Well, now I'm hitting my mid-thirties, for some reason I can't have my usual cooked brekkie, eat lunch at 11am, then have 3 more meals and expect to stay slim. Like a lot of people, if you look at me from behind you might think I was slim but look at me from the side, you'd think I was a surrogate mother carrying the next set of twins for Brangelina!

Anyway, I've decided a diet is in order and have found one that is extreme and works. It's called the Dukan Diet and basically involves eating A LOT of protein and not much else. Apparently I need to lose 2 stone to get to my 'true weight' and according to the supposedly accurate online chart, I'll get there by 17th May!

Anyone else heard of the Dukan Diet??

Is that like a "dunkin' donuts" diet?

Mate - surely mid thirties are just the age of middle age spread ?? Enjoy it, it makes you more cuddly at a dad 😆

I should go on a diet really, but then again, I now work for a chocolate company with a constant supply of chocolate in the office, and it would simplyt be rude not to eat some 😆

Apparently this diet has increased in popularity once Kate Middleton's mother let it be known that she was following it. Kate Middleton is marrying Prince William!!

I'm dieting at the moment, but be buggered if i'm doing any of this fancy dancy diet fad things out there, i'm doing it by old fashioned healthy eating and lots of excercise. I don't particularly have an aim, but it would be nice to loose a stone by the time the bubba arrives is February.

However, for the time being the diet is out the window as i'm ill and feeling sorry for myself, so i'm comforting eating, should only last a day or two as eating chocolate and crisps now make me feel sick after not eating them for weeks 😆

I did the whole diet thing a few years back, but like you no fads just ate less and exersised lots, I lost 3 stone in 3 months, probably one of my biggest achievements!!

Good luck with it!

Well being ill for a few days has helped me loose two lbs this week, so that's a start, I bet it won't keep up at that rate for long anyway 😆

If you lost a pound a week, you'd lose 9 lbs by Christmas, just in time to put it all back on again! 😆

Oh yes, it always happens that way 😆 Though in theory I should have roughly 6 weeks after christmas before the baby is born so it could still be done 😛

Hi all

I joined a gym last year - and still go two or three times a week. I have tried to eat more sensibly but unfortunately like to snack late at night.

I have cut out alcohol too

So far I have lost over 3 stone and have also buit up some muscle (which weighs more than fat!)

According to the Body Mass Index I need to lose another 2 stone which will take me to a weight I haven't been since I was 14 - therefore I realistically want to lose about half a stone.

I am in my 40s and I wanted not only to lose weight but also feel healthier - so far so good

Supes it must be a forty thing....

I'm in my forties and have embarked on a calorie controlled diet.

Basically I hit 15 stone for the first time in my life and decided enough was enough.

I now walk at least 3.5 miles a day and have cut down to about 1000 cals a day. I Just changed my diet completely - I eat well over my 5 a day fruit and veg and have so far lost over 2 stone. My ultimate target is another 2 stone bringing me down to about 11 stone but will be happy to make it to less than 12 stone.

I actually feel great, emotionally and starting to feel fit. Wonder how much is down to losing the weight and how much is down to having a healthy diet ?

Well done to all you slimmers! Some fantastic results being achieved. My aim is to lose around half a stone, and I have recently cut out alcohol and crisps. I'm sleeping better and have more money in my pocket.

Walking is great and any exercise will give you the 'feelgood factor'. Losing two stone is bound to make you feel better about yourself too.

About 10 years ago, I lost 2 stone in 2 months, through diet and exercise, and went to the pool and gym 4 times a week (I worked for YMCA at the time, so it was free and under the office) - I really did feel good about the effect and I was probably the fittest I've ever been in my life, but I have to say that I hated every single second of the swimming and exercise 🙁

Are you moderators talking to yourselves again?? Lol 😆

Ok, so dieting is my speciality - so is gaining weight - esp when stressed or over worked (no sleep = the munchies).

I wonder how much of our weight is related to sleep sometimes, as I know when im lacking it, my brain is always calling for food!

And for the record - like Super Mario, I would need to loose a ridiculous amount for my BMI to make sense..... Whats all that about? No confidence in that metric

Ron
PS. So we may have lost to Man U, but I 8-2 remind Gooners about their little slip up!

I've not been losing weight, but have been going to the gym at least 3 times a week (i'm lucky as I can go a lunch time) and have shifted the blubber from my belly, and replaced with more muscle on the shoulders etc.
Also love the rush you get when you come out of the gym.

My BMI is high though as I'm not that tall, and the muscle puts me over. But i think if you feel good thats all that matters really, everyone is different and so all of these "generic charts" can't be right for all!

Ron - your ps was sooooooo off topic mate.

The generic BMI as a guide its a good thing - though one size never fits all so common sense needs to be applied as well.

I know by looking in the mirror I am still over weight - I don't need to work out my BMI to tell me that.
