[Solved] Wife's mortgage

Hi, my wife and I are separated (not a legal arrangement a mutual decision). She has a new fella and has taken out a joint mortgage with him. If their relationship goes pear shaped am I in any way responsible for the mortgage, or should I make our separation legal and/or perhaps go for a divorce ?

Hi There,
.
As far as I am aware, the mortgage is in thier names so wouldn't ever come back to you, even though you are still married.
.
Even if you still lived together and the mortgage was in her name solely, they couldn't look to you to recover the payments as it's not in your name, it would be the same with a loan or credit cards.

I agree with GTTS ...if it's not in your name you won't be liable, but perhaps this is a sign that you should start the ball rolling and make your separation legal.

All the best
