[Solved] When you have no money to defend yourself

Hi

What do you do when you have no money for legal representation but your opponent is on lega aid ?

Over a small period my expenses paying for a home my opponent freeloads in is around 4500k of which 900 is legal fees.

Over the same period my opponents expense is 400

All expenses are household core eg mortgage etc

Property I bought before married.

To continue proceedings its going to be long haul causing me severe hardships. No exaggeration, sleeping on floors and surviving on scraps of food with only enough money to fuel the car to get to work.

This is the opponents word against mine senario yet even though im yet to be proven guilty of anything, i am suffering because it was quite literally first come first served.

So, my options:

1. Fight to the end with very good chance of success but possibly be bankrupt or extremely poor for many years.

2. Damage limitation by way of agreeing to give in for a period of time eg 1 year

3. Walk away total submission to the opponent but still having at least option 2 stuck to me and possibly longer with potental financial arrears left by the opponent.

Your choice and why please. Or maybe an option 4

Thanks

Hi and welcome

Many of our Dads here have been exactly where you are now and we do understand what a difficult time this can be.

If you are unable to afford the legal representation, you can self rep, plenty of our Dads do. There is a wealth of information and support out there that doesn't have to be expensive.

If you are unrepresented you can speak to Coram Children's Legal Centre. The CAB can offer limited help but they do provide details of local solicitors who will offer free 30 minute consultations. Families Need Fathers have branch meetings up and down the country where you can get help and support. There is also the option of using a lawyer qualified McKenzie Friend which is much cheaper than solicitors although you must get a recommendation to use one of those.

Good luck

Thank for that info.

Im afraid im not cut out to rep myself .

I always give in ..thats what landed me in this position in the first place.

Note to self: never admit to anything,no matter how trivial you think it may seem.

I have a huge story to tell. When this is all over and if its allowed here, I will be letting all the members of this forum read my transcripts, as i would not wish anybody to be subjected to what i have.

Its really quite disturbing and the justice system both civil and criminal have failed me to no end on an epic scale.

I may have to give in one more time for damage limitation, but im damned sure that i will do everything within my capability to uncover the lies and false accusations.

Rant over for now, watch this space people for a real jaw dropper
