I've just split up with my partner and I was finding it hard to work out exactly what rights I have in terms of the child? Thinks this needs to be a main thread?

Hi there,

I would start by getting in contact with 'The Children's Legal Centre'. They are one of the DadTalk partners who are able to give you legal advice on where you stand regarding your child. You can access their website by clicking on their logo on the bottom right of this page. This is a really good place to start. Otherwise there's always people here who can answer most questions.

I hope this is of help to you!

Hi Bristolboy,

Before contacting the Childrens Legal Centre, it would be worth us asking more information from you.

1) What current contact arrangements do you have and how are these agreed... are these being kept to?
2) Are you paying maintenance
3) Do you have any other matrimonial issues that can impact on things

Right of contact is still currently the Right of the Child.

Answer these questions and i'm sure we can give much more insight
