Thought id bring a bit of light to the page 🙂
So today I got to see my son who i haven't seen for 16 weeks, I was accompanied by social services as they were ordered to witness contact
I arrived at the children's centre and had a quick chat with social worker and he advised me we would take things slowly and see how my son was
The social worker went in and he sat down and then i walked in, took off my coat and sat down over the room from him so i didn't smother him and allow him to come to me as advised. My son was sitting with his aunt who was allowed to be present so my son had a familiar face with him, he sat staring at me and was trying to hide which made me a bit upset felt at first but my thoughts were "ive only got an hour and i need to make it count".
I grabbed a walker that had lights and music on it and i was playing with it and asking my son if he liked it, he then pointed to a play kitchen and was saying a few words ( he is only 2). He walked over and started grabbing things and showing me so i stood up and approached slowly constantly speaking to him asking what he had and did he know what it was.
I then sat beside him and we played, after 2mins he picked up a car and said "Daddy look blue"....I won't lie...I had a tear considering my ex had told the court that he doesn't know who is dad is and never calls me dad
We then played for the remainder of the hour and we laughed, social worker stood up and said he wanted to go talk to mum and left me with my son and his aunt who looked like she couldn't care less what we were doing, social worker then came back and said session was coming to an end so my son cuddled me and gave me a kiss, put his coat on and left with his aunty...really sad 🙁
Social worker then talked to me to for 10 minutes, he said that he had told mum he has absolutely no concerns and that my son was calling me dad and we interacted amazing and that she now has to communicate with me to arrange more contact and he will be putting that in his section 7 report
on walking out the social worker said he will email me before he finishes the report to see if she has allowed more contact or not
Im over the moon and was so good to see him today :')
well done mate pleased 4 ya, and your son

GTTS
That had a tear in my eye reading that - so pleased for you 🙂
Sounds like a step in the right direction, well done. When I went through this I remember my emotions bouncing around from the high of seeing him again to the low of feeling hard done by what happened. I hope this is the first step of a better story for your son.
That are real positive step mavic! Well done and hopefully it won't be too much longer before you and your boy are back on track. Thanks for the update.
Great news Mavic.....
Have to admit to quite a tear in my eyes too reading that, brought back some great memories of my child doing exactly the same after 5mths of refused contact by the ex.
Young Children find it difficult to lie convincingly enough to fool experts, all it takes is one little thing for them to remember doing that was fun or enjoyable.
Fingers crossed for contact to continue well fella
I think its the fourth or fifth time I have read this post. I have to wipe tears every single time.
it takes me right back to that contact centre I was in, nervous, blissful, anxious and excited, seeing again, for the first time in 3 months, my beautiful 2.5 yo boy running to me, with his arms wide open, shouting 'dada, dada'... The social worker could not hold him back...he ran straight into my arms.. I am writing this and the [censored] tears are coming again now..The single most overwhelming and powerful memory I have felt in my 45 years.
My experience with contact centres was very brief, only two sessions, unsupervised before my son was home with me. But only the fathers who have experienced those overwhelming emotions can truly understand.. seeing your flesh and blood, your beloved child, whom has been kept from you...seeing their happy beautiful face again.. Unforgettable..
Well done and thanks for sharing. Such a beautiful post and I too had to wipe a few tears.
It is really criminal what some mums do to their own children.
Yup you got me too! Hope its only got better.
