[Solved] Text Messages as Evidence in Court

Not sure whether I'm posting this in the correct place but I thought I'd share some information / technology that may help when collating evidence contained in text messages as I've read a few posts where texts are mentioned as evidence.

I've found some software that you can download to your phone and computer and then transfer all your text messages to MS Excel or a text file. The software is called SMS Export and I got it from ITunes, it cost £5. There's other software available for android phones that does the same job. The downloaded file details the phone numbers, name, direction of text message and the content, plus date and time stamps and is in chronological order so you can easily read the conversations.

My ex communicated throughout our relationship by text...over 22 thousand in just over two years! Although this frustrated me immensely during our relationship (and heavily contributed to our breakup) the upside is that I now have a huge amount of evidence should I need it in court proceedings.

Hi Legodad,

Thank you so much for your post as this will most certainly come in useful for my sons case.

Take care

I too have a software on my laptop to do that very thing.

We've worked out that I receive an average of 197 per day based on (i think) 1380 SMS in a 7 day period. (Thats 71760 per year!!)

I had my ex blocked and when unblocked for 30 mins i received 15 SMS in 25 mins, thats 1.6 per minute!!!

I feel actually quite relieved that i'm not the only one getting excessive texts from their ex's..... I also get them at 1.30am, 1.40am and lucky me a call at 2.40am...!!! (I don't answer!)

I used to get calls and texts at stupid hours - if you have an android phone, then the tasker app is brilliant at controlling calls (and pretty much anything else on the phone for that matter) and handcent sms is goot at controlling texts.

...and that was living together, working in the same office and more or less spending 24hrs a day together! Majority whilst I was at work! Put a massive strain on the relationship!

Hello,

Please bear in mind that just because the ex. SMS's you, you don't have to reply. I am of a mind that, responding gives the control to them. If you are going down a legal route, engaging in [censored] for tat SMS, E Mail's, letters, etc. will not get you anywhere.
