[Solved] Taking a barrister without a solicitor??

We are in a very long ongoing court battle. Since January we have spent £6.5k on legal expenses and we are looking at a further 8-10k.
We just don’t have this money and the case is too complex for self representation.

In the last hearing our solicitor appointed a barrister. She was excellent.

I was wondering if its possible to drop our solicitor and just use the barrister in order to save on costs. Is this something anyone has done. And does anyone understand the pros/cons of doing this?

Some barristers are direct access, which means you can pay them to represent you directly, without having to go through a solicitor. You can find out if this barrister is direct access by contacting her Chambers. You would need to drop your solicitor and then contact the Chambers, or you could call the barrister and run it past them.
