Staying at girlfriends with child

Not sure where I stand legally on where I choose to stay with my child during contact , we have stayed with family members before which hasn’t been an issue . I have brought up staying at girlfriends house which has been met with a solid NO not yet . We’d like to stay there New Year’s Eve as girlfriend is having a kids party and it would just make sense rather than drive home late. It’s up to me isn’t it? And what I deem appropriate- it would be a one off until little one gets to know them all better further down the line - all the kids have met and had several days out together now so not strangers and all got on well. What can I do?

Do you have a child arrangements order or are you working on mutual agreement?  If the former, there may be stipulations in the order, although this is unlikely.  Basically yes, its up to you where you spend the time.  However, if you have an understanding and rock the boat, there may be repercussions.  You do seem to have some reservations as you say its a one-off until the little one gets to know them better.
