You don't have to agree to anything that you're not happy with, if you prefer the court to decide then be polite but say that you're not happy with the suggestions, that you have concerns they will renege on any agreement etc

If you're worried about sharing a waiting room, you can request that you sit in another room.

If the call isn't happening until the day it's due, it might well be late arriving with you. It's been known for parties to be handed it on the way into court.. It's a suck it and see I'm afraid.
