Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

Hi there, does anyone know if MIAM (mediation) is still compulsory for an SIO?

Ex is blocking daughter's access to therapy. She's already dropped the GP referral and the school are too understaffed. A few incidents in her care where daughter has had to call ChildLine from anxiety. We're heading to court for arrangement orders (she has bypassed mediation). I need to get my daughter mental health support as she's suffering in mum's house. 11 years old, and she now only wants to see her mum every other weekend.

hi,

as your due to attend court hearing about child arrangements soon, that is your chance to address all these issues. (no need to attend miam). will it be your first hearing? suggest you prepare  a position statement, which addresses all your concerns and your proposals.
