[Solved] Section 7 help

Think this will be the right place to post this. Anyways!

I went to court and originally a section 7 did not have to be completed as what the mother initially stated to cafcass did not warrant a section 7. However, her solicitor then went to speak to cafcass and surprise surprise a section 7 then had to be completed.

Next Wednesday is when I have my meeting with cafcass although I still have no idea to why a section 7 has to be completed. Can I ask cafcass why it has to be done otherwise it feels like I'm getting questioned and I'm pretty sure it's my right to know?

Thanks!

The order that was made at the hearing should explain why a Section 7 was ordered and the judge should have given their reasons.

Try not to be defensive with Cafcass, mostly they are fine and you will get an opportunity to put your side across. I personally wouldn't ask them why it's being done but you could say that you don't understand some the court procedures etc.

Stay child focused and answer honestly and hopefully the recommendations will be in your favour.

Good luck

By the way, I have deleted your duplicate post and moved this one to the Legal Eagle section.

Just a quick update, I was adviced to look in the court order I received in the post however, the points listed were near the same as her first statement to Cafcass which did not warrant a section 7 so that's where I was stumped. After me having to contact Cafcass about them writing the section 7 report they are finally coming over a week today and my next court date is on the 28th. Like most I'm being accused of domestic abuse, I was suppose to have seen my son 2 weeks ago at a contact centre although she cancelled because she would rather our son go to a party instead of seeing his father, then her solicitor sent me a letter stating that was his nap time, so as a whole I got two different stories. I will post how the meeting goes! Thanks people

I feel your pain, Be very wary of cafcass they can be lazy and take the moms side. Try to leave emotion at the door (thats where I fell) just keep talking about your child and what you want the court/cafcass to do to help your child. Try not to speak about yourself or the ex, they only get 2 hrs to talk to you and will not really read or review any documents you provide they just want to make live assessment of you.

Good luck, Hope it pans out well for you. .
