[Solved] Requesting CCTV Footage

I wish to obtain CCTV evidence from 2nd August from a play centre. My reason for this is to back up the witness statements I have about my ex’s dad turning up at visitation then my ex coming in to tell me there will be no visitation today.

Does anyone have any experience of obtaining CCTV footage? How do I go about this?

Hi there,

When you are in a public place where CCTV is being captured then you are within your rights to request a copy of what was recorded during the time that you were being captured, I would go to the play centre with a written request for this stating the date and time, my only concern for you would be that you are requesting CCTV from a play centre where children are present so they may not be that forth coming with it.

Thank you,

I am hoping, as there weren't any children around at that time (play center had just opened) and the angle of the camera was overlooking the entrance, it wont be too much of an issue.

thanks

That should help, well as said by law they have to minimum show you what they have recorded, as said take a written request to ask for the footage, and as a minimum ask them to save the footage so it could be obtained by the court if needed even if they won't allow you a copy.

You could ask the Contact Centre to review the footage themselves and then write an account of the events for the court, but definitely ask them to keep it to back up the letter.

I have spoken to the manager and we reviewed the CCTV from particular visit. Unfortunately the camera couldn't pick out the incident as it was just out of frame shot. However I do have 3 signed witness statements, hopefully that will be enough.

Glad you managed to get statements at least, shame there wasn't CCTV though.
