I am currently seperating from my wife and looking for a recommendation for a really good family lawyer that also deals with legal aid clients. I live in London and ideally am looking for someone in south east London or North London. I am currently sifting through long lists of solicitors but would really appreciate a heads up on any good experiences that you may have had with a family law specialist.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Thankyou....

I don't think you'll get legal aid unfortunately unless there is domestic violence (against you) or child protection issues.

Hello,

I did exactly the same as you a while back when i was trying to work out a way of getting on the birth certificate of my child. I knew that my ex would not allow me to do so unless a higher power told her the options in law that were open to her.

Sadly at this point I learned that Legal aid was no more and this was abolished back in April (I think) unless for some extenuating circumstances. (ex domestic violence)

My route round the initial hurdle was to use a "free 30 min" session with a solicitor and have them email/letter me with the minutes of that conversation. Luckily I managed to get on the burt certificate using that one letter.

People on this forum are BRILLIANT at offering advice as most of them have been somewhere close to a problem that you may be having. Although they / we are not legal representatives they will have had their own experiences and can share their experiences with you to help.

Also, the forum and main website does also provide lots great documents to read too..

I do help this helps
