Hi Simon πŸ™‚

Sometimes they conduct the interview before the first hearing, it might be because there has been some domestic violence history. They will most likely ask you about it and possibly if you have any other convictions in the past. Just be honest with them and try not to go on the defensive about it. If you don't tell them and they find out from police reports that will go against you.

They should ask you about your relationship with your daughter and how often you see her. They may ask you about your employment ....and what you are asking for in terms of contact.

Just remember not to talk badly about the mother and try not to talk about what you want and what your rights are, instead speak from the position of what is best for your child, how having both parents in her life is what she needs. I get that you have a great relationship with your little girl so make sure you tell them about that too!

It's helpful to make a list of all the points you want to raise, think about your answers and take your time, the measured and reasonable response is always best πŸ™‚

hi nannyjane hows things? i havent got a history of domestic violence when i smashed my xs car window she lied in her statement to the police and said i raised my fist and walked towards her just to try and make things sound worse to the police but the police didnt want to know about that and just charged me with criminal damage but if the cafcass have read her statment that might be why they want to talk to me. you mentioned about they may ask about my employment when i started my job i had to do a police check so i could work with vunrable people and that came back fine if the domestic violence card is played in court would i be able to show the courts my police check? i have got other convictions on my record and i dont hide them from anyone im not proud of them and iv made some bad choices in my life and have paid the price for them if i could change them i would but you learn from your mistakes dont you. you are right i do have a great relationship with my daughter (when i get to see her) both my girls mean the world to me iv also got a 2 year old to my fiancee shes turning out to be a right little charater. im gona make a list of points like you said that i want to talk about cause i know what im like if i dont ill forget when im on the phone to cafcass. thank you again nannyjane for all your good advice all the best simon.

Hi Simon πŸ™‚

Things are fine thanks Simon! Sorry I should have said allegations of DV. I know you said she lied to get you into more trouble! 😑

They might ask about your job, but it might be worth bringing it up and talking about your work with vulnerable people, it's a good indication of how you've turned your life around and are now putting something back! πŸ˜‰

As far as your previous is concerned, you put it really well in your post that's all you need to do, just be honest and humble about it....it happened, you made wrong choices that you aren't proud of, you would change it if you could and you've learnt from it and become a better person. CAFCASS will do their own checks with police and Social Services.

I'm sure you've got lots of great things to talk about as far as your little girls are concerned, don't forget to talk about how your youngest is also being denied her big sister....she's an important factor in this situation and the authorities don't differentiate between full and half siblings rights and they don't like to keep them separated....so you are not just fighting for your rights of contact but for both of your daughters right to form a bond.

Best of luck with it Simon πŸ™‚

Out of interest I have not been contacted by CAFCASS yet and the date is 10 days away.

I sent an email a couple of days ago and yet to hear from them.

Will they contact....how much should I chase this up. Will CAFCASS want anything else?

Hi there πŸ™‚

They can leave it til the last minute, they are very over stretched, as are the courts!

If they don't respond to your email, give them a call next week. They won't require anything other than the answers to their questions πŸ™‚

Did they write to you after the application was first submitted telling you they would be contacting you? If not then you might not get interviewed until after the first hearing.
