Hi,
I'm recently separated from my wife who I have 2 boys with aged 6 and 8. I'm staying at a friends parents house, working full time but have no savings. The money I do earn is paying for solicitors and mediation.
I need help or advice on my next step in finding somewhere to live and that will be suitable for my boys to visit.
Will I be able to get any help with rent?
Is it best to private rent or try housing?
I'm at a lost at the moment and really need my own place so any advice on what to do.
Thanks for your time. Lee

Hi Lee and welcome

I would have a word with your local council and possibly housing associations, and also it may be worth contacting the Citizens Advice Bureau.

From my experience I would carefully consider the advice of a solicitor if it means spending more money, ask them for the possible 'legal' outcomes. For example my ex-wife and I got into a terrible legal argument about the cat, ended up costing me a few thousand and reality should have been the solicitor saying it is irrelevant to the overall issue, save yourself your hard earned as you'll need it for better things like housing and food! Again, this is just my humble opinion and I have no legal training.
Don't take on all the guilt or blame, keep your head up.
