Hi there. I had my first hearing today regarding contact and it didn’t go as planned. They have said I can have indirect contact until the next court hearing on 23rd July. However I’m not happy with this and I was told I can apply for an urgent interim contact hearing. How do I apply for this as I really don’t want to wait another 12 weeks to see my kids. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi

I've moved your post into it's own thread as the one you answered on was old and probably won't get you as many replies.

If you're waiting for 12 weeks, I'm guessing the court have ordered a Section 7 Report from Cafcass? If that is the case there will be very little you can do in this interim period. I'm also guessing the mother has made allegations that have brought about the indirect contact order? The court have a duty to investigate matters and it's very likely you will have to jump through the hoops for now and wait it out.

I agree with Yoda, if there's a question about the welfare of the child, the court will need to investigate before they will allow contact to progress. They have to take all allegations seriously, until they can check them out and make sure that the children will be safe.

It's tough I know, but you will have to be patient. Has the court ordered you to prepare a statement? If not you can prepare a brief position statement to take with you to the next hearing, just a couple of pages to tell the court a bit of background, any concerns you have and what you would like to happen.

If you have been asked to provide a statement, it can be more detailed and you would be able to attach any evidence that you have to back up your case.

Best of luck
