As the cafcass interview with my daughter slowly approaches, I have been browsing the internet about the whole situation. I have read that psychologists can become involved to assess my daughter as cafcass arent fully trained to decide if my daughter is suffering parental alienation or not. How do I go about all of this? I see about a family support worker too, what do they do?

Hi tandn,

A Court appointing Psychologists is not something that is the norm and would most likely only be done in somewhat extreme circumstances.

Parental alienation is not recognised within UK Courts, however it is seeming to gain some momentum. Its unlikely to be taken into account.

I think, that you would do best to wait until CAFCASS have contacted your daughter and had a chat. They may decide to have or appoint a Psychologist but this as stated is an exceptionally rare thing.

A family support worker if meaning through the Courts is an individual who's role it is to engage with families and children and equally help to create and sustain a relationship. I've only ever heard one such case of a liaison officer being appointed.
